Beverage Director, Scott Carney, has assembled a 250 label wine list to accompany the Junoon cuisine. Carney has long been a part of the New York City wine scene. He earned his Master Sommelier title while directing the beverage program at Gotham Bar & Grill. Carney has welcomed the challenge of building a list which harmonizes with the complexities of Indian spices and sauces, and complements its wide array of cooking techniques. While there will be wine for all types of diners, he sees the excitement of the list in places where the wines can amplify and celebrate the spices or – conversely – soothe the palate as an embellishing flavor and balm to the spicier moments. “Beer has too often been the default beverage setting for cuisines that ride on waves of heat,” says Carney. The introduction of fine wine to the table – cool, fresh whites and supple, fruity reds – makes for an exciting sensory travel. Expect the bubbles of sparkling wine from around the world and the sweet and sour of the versatile Riesling grape to play supporting roles in your dining experience. It’s a brave old world and Junoon invites you to pack curiosity and explore the sub-continent.
The wine list is a combination of a deep selection of the old world’s most classic wines and the best vintages along with a wide selection of the New World’s most sought after wines and wines from some of the upcoming regions of the world.
